Opt-in flow

basedIRL collects SMS consent inside authenticated profile settings after a user creates an account and verifies a phone number.

The SMS consent checkbox is unchecked by default. A user must actively check the box to opt in, and SMS delivery stays off until that consent is given.

  1. The user signs in and opens profile settings.
  2. The user enters a phone number in E.164 format.
  3. The user requests and confirms a one-time verification code.
  4. The user checks an explicit SMS consent box.
  5. The user enables SMS notifications for matching queries.
